John Rich is free on $3,000 bond?

John Rich (born January 7, 1974 in Amarillo, Texas) is an American country music artist. From 1992 to 1998, he was a member of the country music band Lonestar, in which he played bass guitar and alternated with Richie McDonald as lead vocalist. After being fired from the band in 1998, Rich embarked on a solo career on BNA Records in the late 1990s, releasing two singles for the label and recording Underneath the Same Moon, which was not released until 2006. By 2003, he joined Big Kenny to form the duo Big & Rich, who released three albums on Warner Bros. Records as well as ten singles, including the Number One "Lost in This Moment". After Big & Rich went on hiatus in 2007, Rich began work on a second solo album, Son of a Preacher Man, which has produced two more chart singles. In addition to his work in Big & Rich, John has co-written singles for multiple artists, including Keith Anderson, Cowboy Troy and Gretchen Wilson, as well as producing records for several other artists.

John Rich is free on $3,000 bond after being arrested on assault and harassment charges filed by former Nashville Star contestant Jared Ashley. Rich turned himself in to Nashville police and immediately posted bond Thursday (May 28) on two counts of assault and one of harassment. All are misdemeanor charges. It's the latest development of an ongoing disagreement between John Rich and Ashley. In April, Rich filed a lawsuit in Nashville claiming Ashley defamed him during an interview with a Florida radio station when he falsely stated that Rich hit him in the face during an altercation at the Spot, Rich's private club in Nashville. In the suit, John Rich said Ashley entered the club without permission on March 13 and had to be removed by security after being asked to leave. John Rich says the charges Ashley brought against him this week are false and that he rejected an offer to pay Ashley to have them dropped.
