In 2001, Mendoza signed with Elite Model Management and modeled in Italy, France, United States, England, Greece, Spain, Germany, Mexico and Peru for Versace, Roberto Cavalli and other fashion designers.She speaks Spanish, English, and Italian.

The beauty queen has been caught in a nude scandal after photos of her modelling naked for a jewellery firm surfaced.
The 22-year-old Venezuelan beauty queen modelled for the raunchy pictures before she signed up as a Miss Universe contestant, reports Contactmusic.
However, Miss Universe Organisation officials have decided not to penalise Mendoza, insisting that the candid photos were not pornographic.
